Support Services for Cancer Patients

The Unit provides a wide range of services for patients with malignant, non-malignant and haematological conditions, including chemotherapy, blood transfusions and specialist out-patient clinics as well as support and palliative care.

Chemotherapy and other supportive treatments are given to patients in the unit by Specialist Oncology Nurses under the guidance of Consultant Oncologists.

Based in Bulstrode Oncology Unit the team comprises of specialist nurses and a social worker.  They provide specialist assessment, advice and support to people affected by cancer and other long term life-limiting conditions.

The GSCR has funds available to help ease some of the financial worries that people affected may have.  The society also partially funds the wigs service, and various other services.  There are a team of volunteers who help with the refreshments in the Unit.

Prostate Cancer Guernsey provides a forum for discussion and support to those in Guernsey diagnosed with prostate cancer and promotes awareness.  The charity also raises funds to help patients with their treatment and finances research projects into the causes and treatment of the disease.
